Last year, the Council organised a total of 9,956 recreational and sports activities, attracting some 656,700 participants.

Libraries

The Council is committed to enhancing the use of Information Technology in public libraries. Additional workstations have been provided in the libraries.

Museums

Last year, the Council continued to organise exhibitions and various promotional activities in museums. The "National Treasures - Gems of China's Cultural Relics" and the "Egyptian Treasures from the British Museum” are very successful exhibitions organized by the Council.

Culture and Arts

The Council continued to present a rich diversity of quality cultural programmes to the people of Hong Kong. To give local artists more exposure, over 70% of the programmes presented last year were performed by local artists.
