PROVISIONAL URBAN COUNCIL
MR. LAM MAN-FAI (in Cantonese):—I too hope that the Select Committee will carry out a review to clearly define the ordinance to be invoked under certain circumstances. In fact, some shop-operators have complained that they were licensed shop-operators but when they displayed their goods outside the shops for sale, they were prosecuted for illegal hawking. They considered that this was a rather unexpected charge. Hence, I hope the Chairman will take this issue back to the Markets and Street Traders Select Committee for consideration.
CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese):—Thank you, Mr. Lam, for your views. As I said just now, I will take this issue back to the Markets and Street Traders Select Committee for further action.
