(B) Coastal superhighway

Hong Kong is a densely populated City with busy traffic. The Island Eastern Corridor, West Kowloon Corridor and Kwun Tong Bypass could all effectively solve the traffic problem. As the Kai Tak Area is situated at the coast and this area is scheduled for redevelopment, a Kai Tak coastal superhighway connecting the Kwun Tong Bypass and Hung Hom Railway Station will be able to meet the traffic demand in this district.

(C) Underground traffic interchange and parking area

As there will be tremendous change in the Kai Tak Area, only well-developed transport facilities could match with the traffic network mentioned in the previous two paragraphs. The Kai Tak Area is situated in the heart of Kowloon. With drastic increase in traffic flow, road traffic will be extremely busy. If the traffic interchange and parking area is built above-ground, traffic will be greatly affected. Therefore, it is recommended that an underground traffic interchange and parking area be built to facilitate road traffic.

(3) Large-scale commercial and tourist area

(A) Construction of submarine shopping arcade and cross-harbour automatic pedestrian walkway

The Victoria Harbour is one of the most famous harbours in the world. If a submarine shopping arcade and a cross-harbour automatic pedestrian walkway are built to link up the Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, it would not only become a tourist attraction but will also link up the commercial activities at both sides of the harbour.

(B) Construction of a waterfront shopping centre and a hotel area

A waterfront shopping centre and a hotel area can be built at the outlet of the submarine shopping arcade to mark the centre of the territory's large-scale commercial areas.

(4) Aerospace communication industrial area

Information technology is development at a tremendous pace all over the world, and it is inevitable that Hong Kong's industries will gradually change from labour-intensive to high technology in nature. Information technology is expected to become a major industry in future. Setting up an aerospace communication industrial area in the Kai Tak Site will not only meet the need of industrial development in Hong Kong, but this site will remind people that Kai Tak was originally an airport and such association will help to build up the image of Hong Kong's aerospace communication industry internationally. If we can make use of China's aerospace technology, together with Hong Kong's outstanding ability in the commercial field, we will be able to bring a new look to Hong Kong's industries.
