(ii) continuing the basic stock building of the Aberdeen-Pok Fu Lam and Yau Ma Tei Branch Libraries;
(iii) continuing the expansion of the "Hong Kong Collection", at the City Hall Library, of books, pamphlets and other printed materials related to all aspects of local history and activities;
(iv) developing the centralization of the reference library.
(d) To continue to encourage the younger generation to make greater and better use of library facilities through book exhibitions, story hours, organized visits to libraries for school children, radio talks, publication of book lists, etc.
(e) To assess the need for study room facilities and the best ways and means to meet the demand.
City Museum and Art Gallery
12. (a) To continue to press for the construction of a new Museum building.
(b) To press for the conversion of the two old barrack buildings at Kowloon Park for the temporary use of the Museum.
(c) To develop local history and ethnographic collections.
(d) To develop the educational service of loan exhibitions to schools.
(e) To continue the existing purchasing policy in connexion with the collections of contemporary art and Chinese antiquities.
(f) To continue the development of the Museum's permanent display.
(g) To continue the display of the Museum's picture collection under the "Pictures of the Month" series.
(h) To continue to organize special temporary exhibitions.
(i) To continue to present monthly film programme.
RESETTLEMENT
13. (a) To continue to press for the relief of overcrowding in Mark I and II estates.
(b) To continue to press for improvements in existing estates.
(c) To continue to press for the provision of adequate commercial and community services for residents in future estates.
(d) To review policies for estate management and to determine their relevance to current conditions.
(e) To improve the standard of management and to give the maximum support to the estate staff in the day-to-day management of the estates.
(f) Generally to support the firm application of settled estate management policy in the estates, and to resist attempts by individual tenants to secure personal advantages at the cost of, or inconvenience to, the tenants generally.
Hygiene
14. (a) HYGIENE DIVISION
To continue to co-operate with the Labour Department in the implementation of air pollution control policy.
(b) To advise and co-operate with the Resettlement Department in matters concerning the environmental hygiene of Resettlement Estates, Squatter Areas and Resite Areas.
(c) To abate sanitary nuisances by continuing routine house inspections and inspections of building sites.
(d) To continue the daily chlorination of public wells.
(e) To continue to prevent breeding of mosquitoes and flies in the urban areas.
(f) To control insects and animal pests which endanger public health.
(g) To press for the elimination of pig breeding from the urban areas, in the interests of public health.
(h) To assist in every way towards the success of the 1972 "Keep Hong Kong Clean" Campaign.
Infectious Diseases
15. (a) To continue to assist the Medical and Health Department in the control of infectious diseases.
(b) To continue to investigate outbreaks of food poisoning.
(c) To continue regular checks on the chlorination and storage of water in food premises.
