HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
MR. SALES:-Mr. FORSGATE reminded me that we ought to wish you a very happy holiday. But that goes without saying, you are going to Scotland for your holiday. How else could it be but a happy one, and also I understand Australia.
CHAIRMAN:-Thank you, Ladies and gentlemen, I will come back refreshed.
FAREWELL TO HON. PAUL K. C. TSUI, COMMISSIONER FOR RESETTLEMENT.
CHAIRMAN:-Ladies and gentlemen, as you probably know this is Mr. Paul Tsui's last Council meeting. He has served this Council at various intervals since 1967, mainly as Secretary for Chinese, now Home Affairs, and he is now scheduled to take up his duties as Commissioner of Labour. We are grateful to him for the sincere service he has rendered in his difficult job as Commissioner for Resettlement over the past months and we wish him well in his new appointment, not that that in its own way, is any less difficult. Perhaps one day he will return to sit in the Council in another capacity. Mr. Tsui, we wish you all that is best.
MR. SALES:-Sir, before Mr. BERNACCHI left, our Senior Unofficial Member asked me to express our very great appreciation for the cooperation which we have had from Mr. Paul TSUI while he has been in the Urban Council with us in the capacities that you mentioned. We have no doubt that his Urban Council training will stand him in very good stead in his new post and if at any time he needs our help, that help would be gladly extended to him. We might even extend our help to those who will go to him by teaching them how to ask him questions in our usual incisive manner. Mr. Chairman, may we also wish Mr. Tsui abundant success in his new post. (Applause).
COMMISSIONER FOR RESETTLEMENT:-Mr. Chairman, you have been more than kind in your remarks about my service here. I have tried very hard. As a Civil Servant I have always tried to the best of my abilities, I thank you very much for the kind remarks and I thank you for your good wishes. I also thank my Colleagues here and assure them I have had a most enjoyable time over the last eleven months and even more so as Secretary for Home Affairs when I sat in that chair.
ADJOURNMENT · 6.27 P.M.
CHAIRMAN:-That concludes the business of this meeting, Ladies and gentlemen. Council stands adjourned until Tuesday, 3rd August at 4 p.m. under Dr. CRAIG,
