HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
If the motion is passed, notice of the intended exhumation will be published in the usual way in the Government Gazette and in the Chinese press, so that any person who wishes to arrange for private exhumation, may do so.
I beg to move.
MR. PETER P. F. CHAN:- Mr. Chairman, the motion before Council, if carried, will give effect to routine operation. While I would appreciate receiving information in due course why the burials in 1967 in Sandy Ridge Urn Section have to be removed in 1969, I am pleased to second the motion.
MR. BERNACCHI :- Mr. Chairman, I would like some more information either from the Proposer or from yourself. One, did the relatives have notice in all three cases that their graves would be moved in the course of time and, if so, is it, and following on the remark made by the seconder, correct to remove the bodies that were only buried in 1967. Did the relatives know that the bodies concerned would be removed so fast.
CHAIRMAN:- I think I would need notice of that question, Mr. BERNACCHI. With regard to your last point, this is an urn section which is being moved, not bodies.
MR. BERNACCHI:- I see, in other words, ashes not bodies?
CHAIRMAN: Or bones.
MR. BERNACCHI:- Bones and ashes, not bodies, thank you.
The question was put.
