POWERS
To exercise the powers and functions of the Council in regard to (a) hawkers generally, and under the Hawkers Ordinance (Chapter 157) and the Hawkers By-laws made thereunder, and (b) markets generally, and under the Public Health (Food) Ordinance (Chapter 140) and the Markets By-laws made thereunder.
To exercise the powers and functions of the Council in regard the Hawkers Ordinance (Chapter 157) and to deal with breaches of licence conditions by hawkers.
To advise on the drawing up and carrying out of programme of health education.
To exercise the powers and functions of the Council under the Markets By-laws (Chapter 140).
To exercise the powers and functions of the Council (a) under Section 69 and 70 of the Public Health (Sanitation) Ordinance (No. 15 of 1935) and under the by-laws relating to Offensive Trades; and (b) under the Public Health (Food) Ordinance (Chapter 140) and the Salted and Dried Fish By-laws made thereunder.

(i) supervise and carry out the general administration of cottage resettlement areas.
(ii) make recommendations for the effective administration and control of the multi-storey resettlement estates.
