ALMOST every little girl wante
twin sister. Responding to these wishes. Dewees Cochran has granted in part the requests of hundreds of tota in the U.S. and in such far off places as Java and Arabin. She falls the desires of young minses by creating diminutive doll repliena which resemble them in expression, hair, skin tones, eye colour and manner of dressing.

In her Norwich, Vermont, workshop, Miss Cochran puts to novel use the artistry as n sculptor and painter which she mastered at schools in Amerien and in Europe, where she spent 10 years. Before the first doll was made, sho determined her. basic physiognomy types of children after extensive research in funda- mental face shapes. Those were sculptured in plastecine for rendy ro- Terence when she received n photo- graph of a little girl. After checking measurements arzd proportions bc- tween photograph and models, Miss Cochran makes a mould of the head which resembles most closely that of her subject.
Tho Jotex head of the doll is mudo from that mould. In expert sculptor's
fashion, the body, arms and legs are moulded, then lacquered to give 驥 blaque-ke quality to the skin tex- ture, and finally assembled. According to Miss Cochran, her latex compound is mixed so as to give desired rigidity to her slender, atanding dolls but`stil* retain pilability which delights this child.

Turning from sculptor to painter, versatile artist paints in the features with a realism that at once distinguishes the doll and the

identical twins. The wig is real hair and can be brushed, combod and curled. Fing eye-tashes give the anal touch.
The renalling mininture, a “Look- Aliko" doll, is a lovable twin of the Hittle girl, and like her is fashionally dressed in a range of wardrobe from sun sult to party best.
Miss Cochran reports that it was the wife of a well-known composer who first encouraged the creation of these novel playmates, designed to outlive the child's doll age and to re- main a cherished memento of just how she looked on the happy day the twin came into her young life.
THE LIVING FEATURES of little girl are transferred in closest resemblance to the face of her doll twin by Dewees Cuchran's sensitive paint brush. This studio
is that of an artist turned doll maker, working from photographs and her own basic physiognomy types ingeniously adaptable to Individual child in her hands.
