What had promised to be the pleasantest winter in a decade in professional boxing has become instead a nightmare to the men who control, the ring business in the USA.

As the summer drew to a close, the prospect could not have been rosler. Rocky Graziano was reinstated and won back his accustomed popularity with a spectacular knockout at Charley Fusari; Jake LaMotta was scheduled against Mar- cel Cerdan in a big-money outdoor match; Ezzard Chülles was proving himself-a fighting champion.
