Mrs Trevor Lyons of Kingston, tled for the national Jamaica, women's team-of-four championship. Her teammates were Mrs. Charlton Wallace of Cincinnati, Mrs. William Anderson of Toronto and Mrs. M. Roncarelli of Montreal.

Th explaining the bidding on to- day's hand Mrs. Lyons (East) sald she thought that her partner's double showed some heart support. But

when South opened the king of spades and the dummy went down It looked as if she had to lose two spades, at least one trump, a dia- mond and a club.

South was the original bidder, anti North's spade bld

over

West's double showed weakness, but prob- ably a five-card spade suit. There- fore Mrs. Lyons did not go up with dummy's ace at trick one but won the second spade frick with the nce. She led the king of diamonds from dummy, feeling sure that South would have to win it, and South did. South did not want to lay down the queen of diamonds and establish the diamond suit, so she led back the deuce of clubs which Mrs. Lyons won in her hand with the eight-spot.

Now Mrs. Lyons played the nee of hearts, then continued with the queen. South won this with the king, and still hoping to make the ten of hearts, came back with the four of clubs. Mrs. Lyona won with the jack, led out her trumps and cashed the ace and king of clubs for the last two tricks.
