CHILD'S LIKING FOR CANDY May Be Due To Unhappiness

CHICAGO, Aug. 17 (UP).— Dr Carl Binger of New York offered evidence recently that a child's desire for candy and ice cream may reflect its 'unhap. piness.

Binger wrote in the magazine, "Hygein," that increase or loss of appetite may be caused by emotional disturbances.

"A child who "teels unhappy or unloved not Infrequently renels to this state by a kind of gluttony," he said. "In addition to stuming at ments, he will often fill up on sodas and candy between meals. He be- comes fat and unlovely. His parents 'pick on him.' They urge him to restrain his appetite. He feels more unhappy and unlovely and goes [right on overeating; thereby defent-

ing his own purpose."

Dinger uvid an undeserved frown for scolding might upset à child's

eating habits.

"What is true of children Is gen- erally true of adults;" he noted: "They exhibit a wide variety of be- haviour in their attitude toward food,"
