Solo Reins Wins Irish Derby

THE CURRAGI18, Elro. Juno 251 (Reuter)Mr Iohn Dipton's Sola Idins, ridden by G. Wells, won the Irish Derby to-day from B feld of ten runners, Sir Percy Loraine's Kharo was second and Mr 11. Hartigan's Etoll de Lyons third.

Solo Reina was favourite at 0-4 with Kharo second at 3-1 and Eloil de Lyons third at 8-1,

Tournament Progress Impaired By Weather

One-sided League Fixtures

THE WET WEATHER of the last few weeks has played havoc with bowls in the Colony, and not only has progress in the League been retarded Last week but in the championships as well. was a complete wash-out and greens generally were so sodden that all but one match in the League programme were cancelled.

The Open Pairs tournament, which always takes |the longest time to complete, has been affected most by the rain. Only about half the matches in the first round have been played at the time of writing, and unless the weather allows the postponed games to be decided this week, I very much doubt whether the second round draw can yet be made for some days.

Weather permitting, the second round of the Open Swimming Rinks will be decided on Sunday.
