One-sided League Fixtures

THE WET WEATHER of the last few weeks has played havoc with bowls in the Colony, and not only has progress in the League been retarded Last week but in the championships as well. was a complete wash-out and greens generally were so sodden that all but one match in the League programme were cancelled.

The Open Pairs tournament, which always takes |the longest time to complete, has been affected most by the rain. Only about half the matches in the first round have been played at the time of writing, and unless the weather allows the postponed games to be decided this week, I very much doubt whether the second round draw can yet be made for some days.

Weather permitting, the second round of the Open Swimming Rinks will be decided on Sunday.

The Lai. Toun Swimming Union's girls swimming team The that broke the China National record for the 200 metres free-ngain feature the Omar brothers style relay at the Kowloon Residents' Union gala held at Lai- (U.M., A.M. and K.M.) and B. chikok on Saturday last.

The Craigengower men are having tough going: In the first, round they had to play a formidable Reerelo rink led by "Spuggy" Sliva, •

The champions, R. Basu, A. E. Coates, J. S. Landolt and C. s. Rossclet, are down to play the Police rink of E. G. Post, W. J. Cameron, Orem and J. C. S. There are not many more matches at interest. J. A. Luz, C. E. Mar- ques, J. F. V. Ribeiro, and C. G. Silva should not have any difficulty in beating W. Naer, A. L Eastman, T. Fergusson and W. Simpson, if Carlos Silva ls' fit and well.

I understand he has not yet re- covered from his kidney trouble and that there is a possibility that he may have to take a rest. from the game,
