BRITAIN LIKELY TO OBTAIN MORE DESTROYERS FROM UNITED STATES

WASHINGTON, MAR. 10 (REUTER) .—THERE IS SOME REASON TO BELIEVE THATİ PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT WILL ANNOUNCE THE TRANSFER OF ANOTHER BATCH OF DES TROYERS TO BRITAIN SHORTLY AFTER THE SIGNING OF THE LEASE AND LEND BILL.

This measure, it is thought, will be one of

a series of dramatic steps which the President will take before the week is out to give immediate effect to the Bill.

It is believed here that now that the Bill is passed, the legislators who opposed its passage will vote the vast, sums required under the Bill on the theory that if the country wants the Bill, it should not be half-hearted about it but should really render all aid short of war.

Press Urges Action

CURRIE BACK. IN U.S.

NEW YORK, Mar. 10 (UP).—The † 1040.” "New York Times" in an editorial says that following the passage of] the Lend and Lease Bili bold action is required, Firstly, preparations must be made to transfer to Britain such weapons, particularly destroyers and planes, as can be spared from America's own arsenals. Secondly, steps must be taken to consolidate the purchasing programme with the British. Thirdly,

dly, production must

be enormously accelerated.
