Italian Raider Destroyed

London, Mar. 9. The career of an Ralian com- merce raider in the Indian Ocean has come to a sudden end and her crow are now prisoners of war, taken by a New Zealand cruiser.

The story is told in an Admiralty communique issued this morning, which states-"A fast Italian mer- with chantship, which was armed

The Italian ship was the Ramb 1, 3,607 tons, 18 knots speed, and was owned by the Halian Government. She was flying the Red Ensign when intercepted by H.M.S. Leander.

"On being ordered to stop the Ramb I holated Italian colours and opened fire on the Leander with the gun mounted on the forecastle and poop. The Leander at once, replied and she had fred five salvors when the Ramb I struck her flag.
