French Counsellor In Washington Resigns
MAURICE GARREAU-DOMBASLE, commercial counsellor of the French Embassy in Washington, has broken with the Vichy government of Petain and resigned his post, refusing to obey orders to return to France.
"The present French Government asked me to return to France, apparently with the intention of appointing one of their friends in my place and-giving me some other function in the home Administration," M. Garreau-Dombaste said, in a prepared statement given out to the press.
