Raids by armed men were made on bank branches and sub- post offices in Belfast recently, A policeman and a woman wure wounded.

STABBED DETECTIVE AFTER STEALING BICYCLE
A sentence of 12 months' rigorous imprisonment was im- posed by the Singapore district judge, Mr J. McFall yesterday on a Malay, Jaffar bln Chik, whom he convicted on "the very serious offence" of stabbing a detective with a knife.
On a second charge, of stealing a bicycle belonging to Loh Soo Teng from the Municipal Services Club in Farrer Park Nov. 3, the same day, Jaffar was also convicted, and sentenced
