THOUGH CONSIDERABLY LATE in its ar- rival in Hongkong, news is at last here of the final of the "Daily Sketch" Women's War Relief Fund Tournament-17-year-old Maureon Ruttle beat Joan Pemberton 5 and 4 at Roehampton to tak、ary for what is generally recognised to be the women's 1940 (unofficial) championship. The match was over 18 holes.
This competition was divided into two sections Northern and Southern---Miss Pemberton was the winner of the first and Miss Ruttle the second, and the result of the final was the latter's revenge for the defeat she sus tained when they met in semi-finals of the 1938 Women's Championship.
Women's 100 yards breast-stroke. Aten's 440 yards free-style. For each of the other four events Men's 50 yards, Boys' 100 yards free-style, Women's 150 yards medley relay and Men's 150 yards medley relay-there are not more than five entries for each event, and can be ...........................
accommodated in the finals.
