RE-COMMENCEMENT AT HAPPY VALLEY

Heavy Over-Subscription for New SEPTEMBER MEETING AT MACAO

Australian Ponies Craigavad May Secure Hongkong St. Leger

WE COME to what nows there is at Happy Valley; the best item being that we are to go on racing with no curtailment of anything and it therefore augurs well for 1941's prosperity.

The list of race fixtures under the auspices of the Hongkong Jockey Club for next season shows that the Annual Carnival week of five days of racing will com- mence on February 15, (terminating on the following Saturday), and there are in addition the usual 13 extra race meetings.

The drawing of the new batch | of Australian subscription grif- finx for 1941's racing has not as yet been announced, but there is reason to believe that it will take place within a fortnight's time. However, it is learned from n good source that the subscrip- tion list (restricted to 125 grif- Ans) has been heavily over- subscribed, and there is no doubt that many new owners will be left in the lurch.

The consignment was serumpanied by a few horsebreakers from the Antipodes, and it was certainly a grand treat to watch these Austro- lian hoops exercising the during the early mornings,
