CAPITULATION LEAVES NORTH ARMIES WITHOUT PROTECTION ON LEFT

SPECIAL TO THE "TELEGRAPH"

PARIS, MAY 28 (UP).—THE ALLIED ARMY OF THE NORTH IS RETREATING UNDER AN AERIAL CURTAIN OF BOMBS, FOLLOWING KING LEOPOLD'S SURRENDER TO THE NAZIS.

It is reported that 400,000 Allied troops were entrapped in the Nazi ring of steel as a result of the King's order.

PLANES TO RESCUE

A MILITARY SOURCE HERE TO-NIGHT SAID THAT ALLIED AVIATION IS FURIOUSLY BOMBING THE REAR OF THE RETREATING FORCES IN AN EFFORT TO PROTECT THEIR WITHDRAWAL.
