Macao Electric Light Coy's Satisfactory Report

A record year was reported by the Macao Electric Lighting Company Ltd. when it held its 29th. annual meeting at the offices of Messrs. Lowe, Bingham & Matthews this morning. The total kilowatt-hours sold increased by almost 40 per cent. over the figures for the previous year and the number of con- sumers by about 18 per cent.

From a sum of $459,243.52 available for appropriation, the meeting approved a dividend of $1.50 per share on 90,000 $10 shares with an additional bonus payment of 50 cents per share. In view of the expansion of the company's business it was decid- ed to increase the directors' Tees from $1,000 to $1,500

per annum.

A subsequent extraordinary general meeting approved the increase of the company's capital to $2,000,000 by the creation of 110,000 additional shares of $10 each.

Mr. F. J. Gellion, Churman of Directors, presided, and Messrs. H. N. da Silva, N. G. Beale (directors), G. G. N. Tinson (representing the secretaries) and J. Fleming (Share- holder) were also present.

After the provision of the sum $131,737.00 for depreciation, the net prout for the year totals $323,081.80. which, together with the sum of, $135,381.72 brought forward from the' year 1038, makes the total amount available for appropriation $459,245.-

From this, it is proposed to pay a dividend of $1.50 per share on the 90,000 shares, which will absorb $135,000, and to pay a bonus of 30 cents per share, which will amount to $45,000, that is to say, a total dividend and bonus of $180,000; also, to pay the Government of Macao 5 per cent on the
