Mr. M. J. Savage, New Zea land's first Socialist Prime Minister, is dead.

Death occurred in Wellington; to-night after a long illness which became acute a week ago.

The Rt. Hon. Mr. Savage, who was born in Bendigo (Victoria) in 1572- I celebrated his 6th birthday on March 7--was bachelor.
