THAT the political situation in Canton still had a detrimental effect upon the trading of the Hongkong and Canton Ice Manufacturing Co., Ltd., was stressed by the chairman, the Hon. Mr. S. H. Dodwell at the annual meeting of share- holders this morning.

Much expenditure for repairs and renewals was necessitated by the shaking of machinery and buildings from explosions during the hostilities in Canton, he said.
