Germans Forced Back Dozen Times

Parls, Oct 7, The French High Command to-duy announced that French artillery and machine-guns repulsed twelve Ger- man raids Inst night. North-west of Wissemburg. south-west of Saur- bruceken and in the Wandt Forest along the Bliese River. The raids were apparently tests of the French positions.

Bad flying weather kept French aircraft on the ground with the ex- ception of a few reconnaissance planes.

It was reported that one German reconnaissance plane lost its way and landed inside the French lines.

On the German side, activity is reported between Saarlouls on Saur bruecken where the French have been selling the Berur Crest which dominates Suarlouls. German re- inforcements are suld to be con- centrating in this sector.

The military correspondent of the Petit Parisien to-day said the French have been galning expert knowledge of German tactles from Polish Army officers who are arriving on the Western Front-United Press.

Philippines Delegates On Way to Kobe

Mr. A. W. Adolfo, Manager of the Philippine Government Tourist Burcau, and Mr. R. N. Yamsun Assistant Manager of the Philippine Travel Bureau, were in Hongkong yesterday on their way to the Orien- tal Tourist Conference in Kobe. As their ship is behind time they will arrive late at the conference, which will be held from October 10 to 15.

Japan has invited China, the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies, Australia, Indo-China, Thalland, the Straits Settlements, Hongkong, and other Eastern countries.
