STREET OBSTRUCTION European Motorists Fined For Bad Parking

A fine of $5 was imposed on G. Merriman, of the Import and Export Department, by Mr. Forrest at Cen- teal Magistracy yesterday for causing an obstruction with his car in Queen's Road Central on August 26. Merri- man said his ear broke down, and, though he telephoned a repair station, nobody arrived

until late.

Summoned for a similar offence, L. Well, of Pokfulum, was fined $5. Well left his car parked almost in the centre of Pottinger Street, leav ing only enough room for a small ear to pass.

B. Shick, of the Hongkong Hotel, was fined $3 for leaving his car in the Pedder Street park for over two hours on August 24.

Mrs Johnstone, of May Road, was fined $5 for allowing her car to re- main stationary outside the Hongkong| Hotel for longer han necessary August 25.

INDIAN GUARD DISCHARGED Kartar Singh, 20, special guard. was discharged by Mr. Forrest at Central Magistracy yesterday on n charge of malicious damage to a cari in Wanchal Road on September 5.

SNATCHER'S VIOLENCE European Woman Attacked

In Kowloon Tong While on her way to visit herf daughter in Waterloo Road August 21, Mrs. Emily Wood, of Em- banknient Itand, was attacked by man, who slapped her face and snatched her handbag. As a result, Chan Hoi, 20, was committed for trial by Mr. Himsworth at Kowloon Magistracy yesterday on

of robbery with violence.

Det.-Sgt. Dowman said Mrs. Wood and her daughter, Leila, were in Road, Bear Rutland Quad- ΓΗΠΕ when Chan altacked Mrs. Wood. He slapped her face and snatched her handbag, containing $78.60, a gold watch valued at $200, and fountain pen. Chan was ar- rested by Lau Hing-yu, cook.

On her way to the police station, Mrs. Wood noticed pepper on her When Chan was searched, a packet of pepper was found.
