Economy Begins
At Home
Some of the workers, specialists in certain departments of printing, have been retained.
The firm is sald to have recently completed a Chinese Government contract for printing banknotes.
According to the Te Kung Pao, a Hongkong Chinese dally, the Chung Hwa Book Company intend to open brunches in Kunming and Rangoon. This is believed to be the reason for the dismissal of so many workers.
No incidents have occurred between the dismissed workers and the owners of the works, though precautionary measures are being taken by the Police, who have posted guards at the works.
