Burton's four rounds in the pre- sent championship were 70, 72, 77, 71, and the worst of these, played in a rising wind in the morning, seemed to have cost him the chance of win- ning. He started the last round four strokes behind the leader, J. Fallon, of Huddersfield, and level with Bulla, The American went round in 73 at the last attempt for an aggregate of

the Third Round of the Open Pairs Bowls Champlunship and they were defeated by, 24-16.

Starting off with two couples, Duncan and Gill established 'en early lead, but by the fifth head, Hoosen and Minu had avertaken them. However, with two threes on the 7th and 8th heads, Duncan and Gill were 10-0 ahead, and from this stage on- wards they were always in front.
