Great Finish In High Wind In British Open Golf Championship
London, July 8.
R. Burton, of Sale, Choshire, won the British open golf championship at St. Andrews yesterday with an aggregate of 290 for 72 holes. Making a strong challenge after having lost his overnight lead. Burton played a magnificent last round of 71 and won by two strokes from the American J. Bulla, who had been congratulated on all sides as a probable winner.

the Third Round of the Open Pairs Bowls Champlunship and they were defeated by, 24-16.
Starting off with two couples, Duncan and Gill established 'en early lead, but by the fifth head, Hoosen and Minu had avertaken them. However, with two threes on the 7th and 8th heads, Duncan and Gill were 10-0 ahead, and from this stage on- wards they were always in front.
At the 15th head, the secre was 15-12 in favour of the winners, and they made almost certain of victory by scoring a four and two singles on the next three heads to lead 21-12.
One postponed match in the Open Singles was decided on the Indian R.C.
