Wright Takes 16 Wickets
For Kent v. Somerset But Side Did Not Win
Several players selected for the First Test match between England and the West Indies distinguished themselves in the Cricket pro- gramme which concluded in England yesterday.
For England, the two spin bowlers, Hedley Verity and D. V. P. Wright took 14 and 10 wickets respectively. Verity had figures of 7 for 40 and 7 for 20 for Yorkshire against Glamor- gan, and helped his county to beat Glamorgan by an innings and* 05 runa; while Wright, playing for Kent against Somerset, had 8 for 35 and 6 for 45-his best performance to date.
Nevertheless, despite Wright's ex- cellent bowling, which dismissed Somerset for 149 and 129, Kent could only take points on first innings. Requiring only 99 runs to win, Kent lost seven wickets for only 72 runs in their second Innings.
Glamorgan
Of the batsmen, Hutton was the only England Testite to do anything of note, his 144 against being the highest score of the pro- gramme.
In the touring side. Jeff Stollmeyer scored 100 against Lincolnshire and Rolfe Grant, the captain, missed three figures by only six runs. Lenry Con- stantine captured eight wickets for 30 runs and helped the side to win by an innings und 00 runs. -
Rain interfered with the match between Surrey and Oxford Univer- ally, which had to be abandoned with the score Surrey 234 and Oxford 133 for one.
Results and details of inatekes were rabled by Reuter.

Three Good Games Fixed For This Week-End

As the clubs go into the second stretch of the local flag race, which will be staged this week-
