CHINESE DAVIS CUPPERS MEET IN FINAL

Kho Sin-kie And Choy Win Penultimate Ties In Bournemouth Event

The success of the Chinese Davis Cup players, Kho Sin-kie (holder) and W. C. Choy, has been the feature of the Bournemouth hardcourt tennis championships now in progress.

the

Both won their matches in semi-anals yesterday, Kho beating

Donald McPhail in straight sets, Baseball while Choy performed his best feat

to date by overcoming Charles Hare,

the British Davis Cupper, in four sots after losing the first to love.

According to Reuter Kho played Buperlative tennis in accounting for McPhall, who led 2-1 in the first and third sets. The champion's delicate! drop shots, lobs and hard forehand drives, however, kept McPhail run- ning to retrieve. The Briton fought pluckily and scored some brillant net winners, but he was outclassed by the Chinese, who led 5-2 and 39-love in the third set.

McPhail saved the eighth game, however, but succumbed in the next.. Kho won by scores of 6-3, 6-3, 0-3.

CHOY'S ACHIEVEMENT

If anything, Choy's victory over Charles Hure was a better achieve- ment, as the latter is considered to be the outstanding British player next to "Bunny" Austin.
