Completely Outplayed By Chinese Pair In Colony Tennis Championships
(By "Abo").
Probably because the Rumjahn cousins were generally expected to win their semi-final tie in the Colony tennis doubles championships "yesterday against Ho Ka-lau and Lee Yue-wing, only a com- paratively small crowd turned up at the Hongkong C.C, to see the encounter. Of those who were there, how many had ovon imagined that the Rumjahns might be beaten?
Yet beaten the cousins were and in straight sets too, which was the surprising part about it. The scores in favour of the Chinese were D-7, 0-3, 0-0,
As W. A. H. Duit and T. A. He was always moving in for the winning blow and succeeded to n great extent, thanks to the badly- placed service returns of the oppos tion. If he was sometimes driven back by well-placed lob, his toss in reply was invested with a top- spin, keeping the ball within bounds. I have seen Leo in the League and in the Colony championships for several years, but I have never seen him play as well as he did yesterday.
