"ATROCIOUS” REPRISALS

Throughout the day Italian bomber squadrons flew over Albanian territory, dropping pamphlets announcing the disembarkation of Italian troops, and warning the. populace not to resist, under the threat of "atrocious military measures.”

The pamphlets called on the people to surrender to the Italian King-Emperor.

The semi-oficial agency reports heavy fighting in the town of Asingjini and states that "blood is flowing in the streets".

A Cabinet meeting is being held at the royal palace this morning. At a meeting last night the Chamber and Government unanimously rejected the Italian ultimatum.

However, a later Tirana report says that Italy has accepted Albania's counter proposals, and an Albanian delegation is going to Durazzo to arrange for the cessation of hostilities.
