He is, I think, lately from the D.B.S, as is Gegg who, though he failed with the bat, took 4 wickets for 22 runs.

SUNDAY GAMES

I had meant to go over and have

a look in the afternoon at the Navy and Volunteer match, but completely succumbed in favour of a good hearty walk over the hillsides to Deep Water Bay. It probably did me much more good and anyway. the

Volunteers managed to win without my moral support. For the Navy, Whitmorsh, who has definite- ly returned to form, knocked up 46 while Carver had 30 and Bowden had 10. Their total was 144 which wasn't such a bad one. However, the Volunteers dealt with the matter Army. R. M. King and Ride started off well and George Souza produced another nice knock of 30. Perry

made 28 (what a pity it wasn't the day before that he had made it) and the Volunteers got the runs for G wickets.

I see that the K.C.C. second even with Mackay and R. T. Broadbridge to help them could do no better than 73 against the Police. Pope, had for 20 and Carey 3 for 19. The Police it oft the runs, though the victory was not perhaps so crushing as the score would appear, a great many runs having been made in the last wicket or two. W. L. Clark hit up 65 not out whlie Oakley scored 38. I observe that Mr. Extras was Recond top scorer with 37 in a score of 196.

BATTERY BEAT KUMAONS

On St. Joseph's ground yesterday 24th Battery nccounted for Kumaon Rifles by seven goals to one in a very one-sided game.

The Kumaons, although not show- ing much tactical skill, are to be congratulated on the plucky display they put up against a team obviously their superiors.

Narain Singh played a fine game And he and Krishna Singh were easily the best forwards for the Kumaons, while in the defence Lleuts. Tan and Tomlinson were always trying hard to hold the entire R. A. forward line, and in this they were successful. Krishna Singh opened the Kumaons account with a hard drive. Narain Singh scored twice for the Kumaons but each timo he was ruled off-side.
