Girl Student Of 17 "Adopts" A Family

A 17-year-old art student, a girl living in Portland Place, London, whose name is not revealed, has "adopted" a needy couple in Durham and their five young children..

Her action was disclosed by the Rev. II. F. Pickering, Vicar of St. Nicholas Church, Durham City, recently, when he defended in the pulpit the effort that ho, with Lady Jana Legge, is making lo secure help for poor families in his parish.

"In Durham City alone there are 1,000 men on the dole, and there are Incredible thousands in the county, There are many brave souls fighting i against tremendous odds to themselves," he said.

The junk, which was considered one of the most seaworthy vessels of its kind yet to embark upon such an adventure, weathered the ACAS well. But the topmost was old and cracked under the strain.

The unique feature of this ad- venture was the presence on board the junk of Luba Schenikn!! and Olga Alksner, both of whom gave up their jobs at a high class French- town restaurant to sail with the Adventure.
