Unknown Poison In Sailor's

Party Death

DOCTOR ASKS FOR A MONTH TO NAME IT

A pathologist asked recently for a month in which to deter- mine the nature of the poison which killed' 40-years-old Mr. Francis C. Newlands, manager» steward of a City block of offices and flats.j

The party was on August 20, and Mr. Newlands was taken ill in the evening. He died early the following day in St. Bartholomew's Hospital.

The first witness was his widow, Mrs. Elslo Rosa Nowlands, who, with a sister-in-law, wore deep mourninit. A slight, dark-haired woman, with ́a ́silver. for, fur over the shoulders of her tailored sult, she first identified her husband, and told how she re- mained with him until his death, after giving a blood transfusion.
