Japan May Abandon Old

Pro-British Style Policy

RESIGNATION OF FOREIGN MINISTER

TOKYO, Oct. 3.

DESPITE the official announcement that Japan's

foreign policy would not be altered as result of General Ugaki's resignation, the Tokyo Hochi gives prominence to a story alloging that the resignation marks the beginning of a remark- able now stage in Japanes diplomacy, in which the pro-British policy will be broken once and for all.

The article says that a "forceful Chinese policy will. also be translated into action, while efforts will be made to further strengthen the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo axis."

The writer states that with this end in view the Premier will choose either M. Matsuoka or Mr. Shiratori as Ambassador-designate to Rome.-Reuter.
