On Baturday 18th, Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd February, the first bell will be rung at 11 am, and the first race will bo run at 11.30 am. On Saturday, 20th February, the first bell will be rung at 2.30 p.m. and the first race will bo run as 2.00 p.m.

Members are reminded that they and their ladies MUST wear their badges prominently displayed throughout the Meeting.

No one without a badge will bo admitted to the Members' Enclosure. Badges admitting non-members to the Members Enclosure and Club Rooms at $10.00 per day including tax-or $40.00 including tax for the Meeting (ladies $5.00 and $20.00 respectively) are obtainable through the Secretary upon introduction by a member, such member to be reapon- sible for all chits, etc.

Badges admitting to Members' Enclosure will NOT be on sale at the Race Course.

SAILOR'S ASSAULT APPEAL DISMISSED

Sentence To Start From Day Of Appeal

Sentenced to 12 weeks' hard labour by the Hon. Comdr. G. F. Hole, Harbour Master, for as- saulting A. Sanuki, Third Officer of the sa. Silksworth, H. Waki- siba, Japanese quartermaster of the ship, brought an appeal against the penalty before the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl Mac- Gregor this morning.

Appearing for the appellant, who was not present in Court, Mr. W. A. Mackinlay, of Deacons, said his client was convicted on February 2 last before the Marino Magistrate on a charge of assault and given the maximum sentence of 12 weeks' im- prisonment.

Appellant originally

pleaded not guilty but after evidence for the prosecution had been given he made a statement admitting the assault.
