400 Killed in Surprise Attack on Sungkiang
Shanghai, Feb. 19.
With the extension of the Japanese lines, a great part of the present hostilities on the Chinese side is in the form of guerilla warfare in which continual casualties are being inflicted on the Japanese...
Authentic details are difficult to obtain, but one example, believed to be typical, may be cited. Recently guerilla troops swooped down on Sungkiang, 22 miles south-west of Shanghai, and took a Japanese garrison. by surprise. They killed about 400 Japanese soldiers, whose bodies were brought to Shanghai for cremation.
