Very fierce "dog fights," about which watchers at Hankow had no inkling, featured the noon air raid yeater- day, leaving the countryside strewn with wrecked machines and mangled men.
The first notable air fight over Hankow ended official ly with two Japancae bombers and three pursuit planes shot down from the air, while one Chinese plane was wrecked, and two others made forced landings, suffering slight damage.
