MACAO FOOTBALLERS DISPLAY SAME WEAKNESSES

UNABLE TO

TO PROFIT

FROM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

BEATEN 3-0 YESTERDAY BY EASTERN TEAM

(My "Abo")

The weakness of the Macao Artillery football team in front of goal was again emphasised yesterday when the visitors were beaten by Eastern by three goals to nil in their second match in the Colony, played at Caroline Hill. Admitted, they probably would have lost in any case, but if their forwards had seized all their opportunities, the margin of victory for Eastern certainly would not have been so wide.

A ln their encounter with Souths China" the day before, the Maceo players were quite Impres- alve in midfield and in defence. Once they had got to within shoot- Ing distance, something Invariably went wrong. They failed to profit by

their experience from the Arst match, and persisted in crowding one other near the Eastern goni. Lack of ball control also played a great part in their defent.

and

There were several inen in the team deserving of special mention. The two backs, A. Cordova and A. Lobato, were better than their op- posite numbers; both worked ex- ceptionally hard,

the latter featured his play with clever drib- bling upflokda necessary munocu- the vre In this case l view of fallure of the forwards to get go- ing. A. Alrosu, the centre-half, was also prominent, but was not so good in his constructive work.

00 the whole however, the visitors did not play quite as well as they did against South China "B"

on Tuesday.

BAD LUCK

it

Towards the end, the Portuguese forwards did manage to put in few good shots, li of which were saved by Sammy Tsar except one from the centre-forward, A. Santos, who had the mortification of reeing it hit the post. It was extremely had luck as it was a fine shot and the goal-keeper was beaten.

Eastern won because they played neater football, and were able to round off their movements
