to her associates only as "Madame," is the brain be- hind Britain's blackmail gang, which Scotland Yard has for long been trying to smash.

Recently two members of the gang, Joseph Kinsella and David Sellars Baird, were con- victed on blackmailing charges. Kinsella got ten years and Baird five.

For eight years "Madume" and a gang of eight have preyed on their victims.
