should cry for half an hour each day. The periods of crying should be just before feeds, and the louder and stronger the cries, the healthier the baby.

The crying not only exercises the baby's lungs, but also his whole body: If it worries his mother she should put him in another room and do a job of work in a distant part of the house until feeding time,

Bables should not cry after a feed or. in between feeds. If they cry after a feed they are either not satis- fied or else the food disagrees with them. A few days of test feeding will decide which is the case.

If they cry at other times there is

a reason for it, and it can be found out and stopped.

Give the child constructional toys that interest him and a quiet, happy atmosphere in his home and he will be calm and contented.

mostly due to physical tiredness. No child of six upwards should- ideally speaking-ever cry at all. I he cries continually, look at once at his health.

Are his weight, height, sleep and appelite good? It does not do child good to cry. It merely shows you that his nervous system is out of car through physical or mental strain.

Don't Ignore crying in older child- ren; try at once to get at the reason for it. When you have looked out for signs of physical -health, turn to the mental alde and make sure that the child has all he needs to satisfy his emotional development, sch as books, music, friendships, games, outdoor sports.
