The British flotilla leader, H.M.S. Douglas, arrived here to- day with 84 refügees from the Balearic Islands, including 20 Britons.
When the Douglas arrived at Ibiga on Friday evening, two Spanish Government torpedoboats and six aeroplanes were bombarding the island, but on the request of the Commander of the British destroyer, sent to the Spanish Government forces by wireless, the bombardment was suspended while the Douglas removed the refugees.
Miss C. Hassell, an artist, was the only British resident of Ibiga aboard the Douglas. She said she was watching the bom- bardment when a bomb or shell fell on a rock near her and a splinter of stone struck her in the leg.
