It may bel as well to point out, that wherever successful mining ventures are Boated! new promotions are rapidly brought ut, for the speculation inevitable in all ruining appeals to the "get rich quick" gambling instinet, inherent in all humans. The mere mention of Gold, the most sought after of all! precious metals; even more desirable than ever to-day, in view of the huge premium it commands at its present prier of 138/- per oz.,; is like a talise! man to most of us. In these inore. conservative times and with present day scientific methods of mining, the 'old time' miner and would-be gold | seeker is largely represented by the speculater in gold mining shares. The results obtained by the success- ful companies bring about the promo- tion of many others; some of them good, others mediocre nad many worthless. But such are the chances in mining all valuable metals that there is always will be, a big army of wealth seekers who prefer to back the low priced shares 'of ap-| parently poor promotions, rather than invest a the higher market priced stock of proved undertakings, And sometimes, though perhaps rarely, their faith is rewarded.
