DOUBLE MURDER OLD MAN AND SON FOUND STRANGLED
A.shocking double murder was re- vealed by the discovery of the bodies of the Chinese, and an old man about sixty years of age. named Sung Ting, and the other n ten-year old boy, Sung Kwai-loi, the adopted non of the old man, yesterday morning in their hut at Telegraph Bay.
Both victims, had apparently been stranghet, as the old man was found dead on the floor near the door of the hot with a towel tied round his neck. He was dressed in short trousers and a jacket, and there were bruises on his head and face, Indicating he had been struck by a blunt weapon. The body of the boy was found in an inner room. He was naked, and the brutal manner in which he had been done to death was shown by a piece of cloth tied 4lightly round his neck,
The discovery of the tragedy was rande by Chung Yu, nephew of the decensed old man, at about 6.45 o'clock in the morning. Chung You was passing the hut when he des cided to go in and buy some cigar- etics. He fol the door closed, hut not locked, and an entering the floor saw his uncle lying dead, col in an inner runt he found the small boy. He immediately informed other squatters living nearby and later the Ponce.
A party of Police including Mr. T. Murphy, A.S.P., Chief Detective Inspector J. Murphy, Detective Sub- Inspector O'Donovan, Inspectar Hourihan and other Police officers were soon on the scene,
Robbers the Motive
They found signs of the hut hav Ing been cananched, although it was not possible to discover from neigh- bours what had been stolen. It was, however, believed that the old man probably had about $200 or $300 hidden in the bus, and rolbery is believed to have been the motive for the murder.
The Ladies were cold and stir when found by the Police, and Dr. R. S. Beghie, who also visited the ecene, was of the opinion that death had decurred some time between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 4 am: yes terday,
Telegraph Bay Is near the Jung- tion of Sassoor Hond and Victoria Road, and there are about a han dred huts In the fshing vlage there. The hut where the murder took place was within about firty feet of a group of alx other huts. The old man was a well-known In- habitant, having been there for over thirteen years,
