Capetown, April 27.

The South African Minister of Defence, Mr. O. Pirow, to-day disclosed to Parliament measures which, bearing in mind the Italo-Ethiopian campaign, would give to South Africa within five years 1,000 acroplane pilots and an anti-tank battalion, with the most modern of anti-tank weapons, capable of being transported 500 miles in forty-eight hours.

The Premier said he hoped that that made it clear that the question of the transfer of a mandate was ong which, if it were to be contemplated, would require most careful considera- tion and would be subject to pro- cedure of an elaborate nature.
