Atlanta, Apr. 7. Serious floods are now menacing the areas devas- tated by yesterday's terrible tornadoes.

Rivers in Georgia and North and South Carolinas have been dangerously swollen by twenty-four hours of ceaseless rains and have overflowed their banks in many places already.

The bodies of 454 persons, victims of yesterday's tornadoes, have already been discovered and the worst is not yet known. Most of the dead were at Tupelo and Gainsville, Georgia.

It is estimated that 1,800 have been seriously injured and that another 20,000 are homeless.

Damage is estimated at $25,000,000.

The Red Cross headquarters at Washington has appealed
