BENNY LYNCH & JACKIE BROWN
(By Geoffrey Simpson)
London, Sept. 4.
In the latest American ranking lists Benny Lynch, stocky Glas- gew fighter, has been elevated to No. 1 position among the world's fly-weights, with Jackin Brown, official world champion,, second.
How the compiler: 3,000 miles dis- tant, arrive at this estimate, seeing that Brown has held on to his cham- pionship for three years against all comers, may bewilder Lanenshire, but! not Scotland,
Perbups it is n case of intelligent unleipation, for on Monday night in the Belle Vue ring, Manchester, not for from Brown's birthplace, the champion must rink his title against Lynch's busy fists.
SPECIAL TRAINS
pionships will be in the melting patt Brown's British and European cham- too, which explains why special trains are taking hundreds of Scotsmen to the battle, and why the remarkably high purse (for fly-weights) of
3800 is being paid.
Lynch, in my view, represents the most formidable challenger Brown has hul to face since he Battened Young Perez, from Tunis.
1 am still convinced that Lyneh beat Brown fairly and squarely that night in Glasgow when they met in non-title match. Ent. the referee, in spite of the fact that Brown had paid numerous visits to the canvas,
made it a draw,
