The device, which, it is reported, is the invention of Mr. Paul Humphrey MacNeil, well known infra-red ray research specialist, has already been demonstrated to naval, military and air experts of this country, and has been found fully effective in every detail. The tests have been going on for several months, and news

of the invention, leaked out only because of investigations by American authorities following tests of a similar, but not so effective, ray which took place off the coast of New Jersey a few days ago,

In the demonstration of Mr. MacNeil's secret vay, the British inventor was able to show that he could lycute a hidden man even though he was a mile away from the recording instrument.

"It is far more powerful than ours," the New York Press declare, states a United Press message.

AMAZINGLY SENSITIVE

The secret of the miracle of detecting objects lies in the extraordinary sensitivity of the instrument to heat waves.

It can detect the heat of an aeroplane engine at a great distance or great altitude, while its sensitivity to the more intense heat of a ship's boilera is much greater as far as distance is concerned.
