A young man named Lal Man, unemployed, appeared before Mr.j Macfadyen at the Central Magis tracy this morning, charged with assaulting an Indian constable.

Giving evidence, the constable stated that at about 10.40 p.m, last Saturday, he saw a woman hawker nelling Inicheen in Hollywood Road near Shing Wong Street. He arrested her, and as he was taking her to the Central Police Station, the defendant, who was her son, came up from behind and throw! stones and mud at him and also struck him several blows on the back.
